K. B. H. S. S. Trusts Institute of Pharmacy has 04 Pharmaceutics Laboratories and 01 Research Laboratory equipped with equipment’s of cost more than 50.00 Lakh. B. Pharmacy and M Pharmacy (Pharmaceutics) course are utilizing the laboratories for regular experiments and research work in the Pharmaceutics discipline. Laboratories are equipped with multipurpose equipment (orchid) with attachments of ball mill, V cone blender, Y shape blender, roller mill, coating pan, hot air blower for various unit operations of tablet manufacture, Tablet mini press- 08 station for tablet manufacturing, Dissolution test apparatus for finding tablet dissolution rate, Disintegration test apparatus for tablet breaking study in fluids, Tray Dryer for drying of blends, Ovens, Incubators for microbial growth, BOD Incubators for bacterial incubations, Laminar air flow for preparation of injections & microbiological studies, Aseptic cabinet, Autoclaves, Distillation units, high precision Electronic balances, Density apparatus, Brookfield viscometer for viscosity measurements, Mechanical stirrers, Centrifuge, Refrigerated micro centrifuge for separation of insoluble components are widely used by the researchers in the pharmaceutics laboratory. The analytical instruments like FTIR spectrophotometer, UV-Visible spectrophotometer and HPLC are installed in the Research Laboratory for evaluation of formulations.
Postgraduate students are developing novel drug delivery systems like Gatro - rententive delivery, controlled release delivery, Patches, Films, Gels, microspheres utilizing laboratory equipment’s. More than 50 research publications are published by the pharmaceutics department in reviewed, peer revived and impact factor journals.
